December 16, 2025Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park’s wildflowers showcase the link between nature and culture in the Sydney sandstone landscape. Brilliant displays of waratahs, banksias, grevilleas and wattles thrive on ancient sandstone soils, supporting native birds and insects. For Aboriginal people, these plants are integral to traditional knowledge, food and stories.
Now part of the Ku-ring-gai GeoRegion, the park’s floral diversity underpins education, tourism and conservation, connecting geodiversity, biodiversity and culture.
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park’s wildflowers are both ecologically rich and deeply cultural -reinforcing why conserving both the plants and their cultural context is vital.
